The List #1 📝
The Upstairs/Downstairs home is expanding.
While it’s fun to psychoanalyze the boys on Love Island and talk about the fall of modern civilization, sometimes we’re not in the mood to think critically!! Or think at all!!
The Upstairs/Downstairs home is expanding with a monthly digest of what Upstairs and Downstairs material (or experiences!) I’m consuming. Something short, something sweet, something for the girls to get ready and party to.
THE UPSTAIRS LIST
ROSALÍA - The Lux Tour ✝️
This isn’t a regular concert. There’s drama, art history easter eggs, and of course, insane vocals from one of the best artists we’ve got. My sister and I had the spontaneous idea to walk over to Madison Square Garden on the day of the show and score some tickets in our budget, which we did by some stroke of luck. It was one of those, “Holy shit, I live in New York City” moments. My highlights from the concert were “La Perla”, “SAOKO”, and a full orchestra!! If she’s coming to a city near you, go, honestly. And if you were raised Catholic, this is your moment.
dance arts center - Love Took Root 🎶
dance arts center (i.e. DAC) was recently featured on CFCF’s new album, L.U.V. for the song, “Love Took Root”. It’s vibey, it’s dancey, it’s exactly what I need going into summer. Despite a near constant impending doom, we gotta dance, y’all. She’s on the rise, too, after recently performing as a support act for Grace Ives. If you haven’t checked out her first EP, do so and report back to me so we can stan together. Keep an eye on DAC ;) I know I will.
The Interview - The New York Times 🎙️
Journalism seems to be half in, half out nowadays. Influencers took over the red carpet, and anyone with a mic and platform on Twitter can claim they’re moving with journalistic integrity. Newsflash! That is entirely wrong and scary, in fact! Journalism is an art, a skill, a craft. The New York Times’ podcast The Interview is a very good depiction of what hard hitting questions sound like, what a push back could elicit, and how much more juice is squeezed when you have someone who knows what they’re doing. A favorite episode is with Kristen Stewart, and it’s something I think about constantly. Lulu Garcia-Navarro is one of the hosts, and she really knows how to ask a follow-up question. Public figures should be a little scared of journalism. That’s the point!
THE DOWNSTAIRS LIST
This insanely niche TikTok trend 🎂
The last time I ordered a cake with custom typography on it was my birthday last year, and good thing I was on the right side of TikTok to inform me that you have to be very specific. People on TikTok are showing their custom cake flops, and I’m starting to believe it’s one big joke from the cake decorators.
The Taylor Swift Wedding Gossip 💍
Is it Fourth of July weekend? Is it going to shut down the city (as in… New York City)? She has permits for MSG? Not MSG. EM-ESS-GEE, as in Madison Square #$%&ing Garden. These are the questions, or rather, the gossip, circulating the wedding between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The spectacle of a single wedding is truly something to witness, and I’ve come to research arena-held weddings in a way I could not have predicted. Is a wedding over the 4th gauche? Perhaps. Is it logistically smart? I’ll admit, sure. I’ll be monitoring the situation for further Upstairs/Downstairs coverage.
FIFA World Cup 2026™️
Specifically, the online coverage. While I have been keen on watching the games (Vai Brasil!) in crowded bars and street parties, the true joy has come from the cultural collabs. Scottish people are draining bars in Boston, Koreans are taking shots of tequila in Guadalajara, and the Japanese are throwing down in Dallas. Americans are online calling each other the naughty cousins for introducing our guests to BuzzBallz and Wendy’s. The World Cup proves that we all just want to party. Let me go ahead and crack open a BuzzBall…

All my friends in LA who went said the Rosalia show was the best they've ever seen!
